The Junction Retreat

A West Seattle short-term rental with a backyard built for guests: a Softub, a fire table with seating, a grill and even a pet wash station. The host needed media that sold that whole experience, not just the bedrooms. Here is the stay, in the order a guest lives it. It is a real listing: you can book a stay at junctionretreat.com.

I.
Arrive

Golden hour on a quiet street.

Three minutes on foot from the cafés and restaurants of the West Seattle Junction, the house sits back from a quiet street. We shot the front at golden hour, when the cedar shingles catch the last of the light. That is the cover photo, because it is the first thing a guest sees.

II.
Come in

A bench, hooks and a carved orca.

The door opens onto a walnut entry wall with a bench and hooks, a round mirror, and a carved Northwest scene above the thermostat. Small things, but they are what guests photograph. We shoot the entry on every rental, because it is where the stay starts.

III.
Settle in

Walnut slats, leather and one big window.

The living room is small and well judged: a TV on a slatted walnut wall, a leather sofa, a jute rug and a floating console. We lit it to keep the warmth of the wood without losing the view through the window.

Walk through it

The walkthrough of the house and the neighborhood, with drone aerials. Sound is off until you turn it on.

IV.
Morning

Coffee first.

A white kitchen with a long island, pendant lights and an oak slat screen that half-hides the hall to the bedrooms. We shot it with the sun coming through the window over the sink, and with flowers on the island, because that is how the host leaves it for guests.

V.
Breakfast

The nook that sells the house.

A round table, a built-in bench with pink corduroy cushions, hanging planters and a carved orca over the window. Two frames: the wide one for the listing, and the close one for Instagram, where the little figure on the windowsill gets his own moment.

VI.
Rest

Terracotta linen and a wall of walnut.

The primary bedroom gets the big window, roller shades, wall sconces instead of lamps, and a slatted walnut wall behind the TV. The charging tray by the bed is the kind of detail guests mention in reviews, so it got its own photo. So did the closet, because guests want to know there is one.

VII.
Refresh

A spa-style bath.

Dark textured tile, a glass shower with a digital control, a lit mirror and a fluted walnut vanity. We shoot bathrooms tight and bright. The smart shower panel got a close-up because it is a feature, not a fixture, and so did the amenities shelf, because guests notice what is waiting for them.

VIII.
Soak

The backyard is the reason to book.

Under a louvered pergola: a Softub, a wall of evergreens for privacy, and the fire table a few steps away. This is the frame we would lead with in any ad, and the one guests remember.

The vertical reel

A ready-to-post reel for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, so the listing gets seen outside Airbnb too. Beside it, the nine-second cut for stories and ads.

The nine-second cut
IX.
Evening

Fire table, grill, and a wash station for the dog.

A fire table with Adirondack chairs, a pellet grill, a stacked woodpile, a carved Sasquatch keeping watch, and a stainless pet wash station. Each amenity got its own photo for the listing's amenity sections, one wide frame from the Softub shows how it all fits together, and we came back at dusk to light the fire.

X.
Last light

Then the sky does this.

From the yard, the view runs over the rooftops to the water and the Olympics. We waited for it. A frame like this closes the listing, and it is the one guests send to their friends.

Beyond the front door

The neighborhood

Guests book the location as much as the house. A longer neighborhood film shows them what is around the home before they arrive.

What the host received

One visit. Everything the listing needs.

We shot the interiors, exteriors and backyard, flew the drone for aerial context, edited a walkthrough video and a vertical reel for social, and created an AI cinematic walkthrough of the home. Everything was delivered in organized folders, numbered in listing order, ready for Airbnb, social media and ads. The photos are now in use on the host's own site, junctionretreat.com.
